Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Programs (BORP) is a non-profit organization that provides the tools, resources, and support for individuals to achieve their goals of living an active and engaged life in the Bay Area. Through BORP, people can connect with other community members to participate in activities such as recreation sports leagues, outdoor trips, and various other events. BORP also offers training, education, and mentoring for individuals who are interested in learning about the Bay Area’s resources and services.
BORP’s mission is to bridge the gap between people with disabilities and their communities by providing access to recreational activities in a fun, inclusive environment. Through their programs, they strive to reduce isolation and promote social inclusion. BORP offers over 150 activities and events each year, including rock climbing, sailing, skiing/snowboarding, yoga classes, and more. They also assist with finding housing and employment options for people with disabilities.
In addition to offering recreational activities, BORP is also dedicated to educating the public and raising awareness of issues related to disability rights. Through their advocacy initiatives, they strive to create a more equitable Bay Area for all its citizens. BORP works with local businesses, government agencies, and other organizations to ensure that individuals with disabilities have access to the same opportunities as everyone else.
BORP is committed to providing individuals with disabilities the tools and resources they need to reach their full potential. With their programs, they hope to empower people of all ages and abilities while also fostering meaningful connections between members of our community. By working together as a team, we can create an even brighter future for everyone in the North Oakland, area.
